2019 Hiking Challenge – Calling All Hikers! (+ FREE Download)
This year, 2019, I challenge you to get outdoors more. To head to the woods or the mountains and just HIKE! Wherever you feel comfortable – the hills in your neighborhood or town, that big mountain that you’ve had your eye on, or longer trails such as the Appalachian, PNW, or maybe internationally like the Dolomites in Italy! Welcome to Outside This Small Town’s 2019 Hiking Challenge…
Record your trails and distance and let’s see how many people can make it to 100 miles (160 km) hiked by the end of 2019!
Track your distance with whatever app or device you like best. My preference is OutdoorActive (click here to find on iTunes App Store) – I record all of my trails on there and do most of my searches for hiking. The Apple Watch, Fitbit, etc. are all great trackers as well. Keep a record of your distances and dates using this handy chart I’ve put together below, or however you prefer (journal, notes on your phone, spreadsheet, etc.)

Note that just “walking” or “casual walking” doesn’t count in this challenge. You should be out in nature, breathing in fresh air, with at least a slight incline. It doesn’t matter how far you go each time, either. It’s about getting outdoors more! Take the dog for a short hike, grab a group of friends and head to your nearest state park for some hiking trails, or join up with an official group (such as Girls Who Hike Official).
Tag me in your stories or Instagram posts so I can see who all is participating and when you’re out hiking with the hashtag #OTSThikingchallenge. You can find my profile here. You can also find updates for how many miles I’ve accomplished this year by searching the hashtag above on Instagram!
Good luck & happy hiking!
