The Perfect Job for Me: A Travel Advisor

Over the last few months, I’ve jumped headfirst into a new job opportunity; one that allows me tons of flexibility, allowing me to continue staying home with my children. It is the perfect job for me and I’m so excited to share how this new job is helpful to YOU. But first, I’d like to provide a little backstory as to how I fell into this new venture as a travel advisor.

My Experience as a Client

In 2019, we had a month off for travel before we moved from Italy to Germany. We knew we wanted to go to Asia, but seeing as how I’d never been before, planning it was overwhelming. Trying to find flights and transportation from each city was a nightmare. There was no way I could do this. It just wasn’t my specialty at the time.

I’m the trip planner between the two of us, so it was hard letting go of the reins and handing them over to someone else. After realizing that it would be 23 days of travel between three countries with countless travels, I was more than happy to hand the baton over. It was a quick decision to consult with a travel agent and I knew just the one.

Cruise Planners – Tropics and Beyond knocked us off our feet when it came to planning this trip. They helped us build an itinerary based on our wants and the trip they came up with was epic!

In our 23 days of traveling, we spent 12 days in Thailand, 4 days in Cambodia, and 7 days in Vietnam. Everything plus way more that I haven’t mentioned was included in the package that was put together for us, along with all 3 and 4-star hotels, transportation (excluding airlines), and most meals (minus alcoholic drinks).

We had a boat tour get canceled mid-trip because of dangerous weather conditions in Phuket, Thailand. All we had to do was call the number provided in our travel documents and they arranged the rest of our day AND issued a refund for the missed experience.

In Vietnam, we were faced with a typhoon and had to evacuate the boat in Halong Bay and be moved to a hotel. I was so impressed at the company’s efficiency in getting us a hotel and setting us up with a different activity. So I decided, after that experience, I want to help others have the same experience — in different places around the world.

What Qualifies Me to Be a Travel Advisor?

Here’s my time to shine: I’ve traveled to over 38 countries, living in 3 of them and in Europe for 5 years. I’ve done everything from budget hostel stays to luxurious river cruises (Hello, Avalon!).

I now get the opportunity to help my clients build the trip of their dreams or just a weekend getaway! I’m so excited to work as a Travel Advisor building customized vacations for Tropics and Beyond, a franchise of Cruise Planners.
