Bittersweet Goodbye To My First Home
Two posts in one week….yes, unusual for me, I’m aware. Maybe it’s because I have more free time or maybe it’s because I’ve been doing a lot of reflecting lately. Either way, writing has become soothing to me and my go to when I need to put my thoughts in order. Tonight is the last night in my very first home and it is so unbelievably bittersweet. When I first started looking for a home to buy last summer, Stephen was hardly a figure in my life. I had given up on men and the thought of settling down on my own made me content enough at the time. I…

Colorful Cinque Terre
Blue skies. Blue seas. Gelato. Lemon trees. Those are the first four things I noticed when I got off the train in Monterosso al Mare, one of the five towns that is part of the Cinque Terre (pronounced “chink-e” like 5 in Italian). Cinque Terre means “five lands” in Italian and is composed of Monterosso al Mare, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola, and Riomaggiore. I chose to stay in this town after reading other blog posts comparing the five towns. Monterosso has much more to offer activities wise. There are shops, restaurants, and bars galore. The beach is significantly larger than Vernazza so there’s lots of room for laying out. I stayed…

A Fairy Tale
“Once in a while, right in the middle of an ordinary life, Love gives you a Fairy Tale.” I have never felt more loved than I have these past two weeks from all the congratulations and support that my fiancé and I have received. While it may have been a shock to so many, aka my family, it wasn’t to those that know me best and have been there every step of the way since Stephen & I first laid eyes on each other. After spending 10 days with him in Europe last Christmas, there was no doubt in my mind that he was the man I was going to…

Norway in 3 Days
Day 1: Oslo After a long 15 hour trip from Charlotte, NC to Oslo, Norway, it was such a relief to be back in the familiar arms of my man! We grabbed our bags and walked over to the most gorgeous and welcoming hotel, Radisson Blu. It was so nice to be able to walk from the airport to the hotel without having to worry about transportation. The hotel was beautiful on the inside and the outside, and our room was very modern. One of the first European hotels I’ve seen that actually had a bathtub and the beds weren’t split into two!

Perks of Being a Teacher
Yeah, I know what you’re thinking…you don’t read many articles about the perks of being a teacher anymore. Everything is always so negative when it comes to this profession. But, in my experience and in this case, there are many perks. Teaching high school kids is far from a piece of cake. We’re less than 10 years apart in age so I have a very different style of teaching. Some days I think “holy mother father what have I gotten myself into”…other days I want to squeeze them and freeze time because I’m so proud of them, and some days I just laugh uncontrollably because of the crazy things they’ve said.…
