House Hunters International – A Home in Vicenza, Italy
Choosing your first home as a married couple is no simple task, but choosing one in another country…that takes a lot of patience and time. But I can say without a doubt, that once we started looking for a home in Vicenza, Italy, this decision was one of the easiest ones we have ever made as a married couple.
I knew we had found the ONE when we stepped out of the car in Costabissara with our translator. I looked over at my husband, and he had this stupid grin on his face. I asked him what he was smirking about and he responded: “I can smell fresh grass!”
One of our must-haves was to find a home in the countryside, where we would be far enough away from the hustle and bustle of city life, but close enough to bike to the town center.

What was listed online as a townhouse with 3 bedrooms, was in actuality, an incredibly cute Italian duplex with the possibility of 6 bedrooms. I think I fell in love the moment we walked through the gate…
Located in the town of Costabissara (aka Province of Vicenza, aka Veneto region), it is only a short bike ride to work or downtown Vicenza. We managed to find at least three pizzerias, a gelato shop (#1 requirement), a supermarket, horse stables, and a castle (what are the odds of that)! With the smell of fresh grass, horses, and the peacefulness of not hearing cars, I think we have found the perfect home to begin our adventures in.

Take a view of our new home in Vicenza, Italy from the pictures below!

From heated floors and natural lighting to plentiful space and bedrooms/rooms, we couldn’t have found a better place to start our lives. Our home is at the end of a quiet neighborhood street with Italian neighbors, which we have heard are extremely friendly and welcoming to new tenants. There’s a cute park with a see-saw, basketball court, and a lovely green space perfect for picnics and catching sun rays. Behind our home are fields as far as you can see of hay, horses, and even chickens running around everywhere. There’s a one-lane road where we passed people walking their dog, riding their bikes, and coming home from work.

Stay tuned for more adventures to come – we’re just getting started <3
